The Crime Literature Festival of India will be held from November 3 to November 5 at Welham Boys’ Schools in Dehradun. Multiple narratives of Crime literature engaging with all aspects of it are being shared among crowds of crime literature enthusiasts.

It’s a tribute to imagination, a harmony of collective wisdom, and a meeting with various writers, readers, fans, and experts.
This unique festival, a first in India, aims to create a platform for knowledge sharing, interactive sessions, and lively discussions, uniting fans of crime literature into a tight-knit community.
It brings together writers, detectives, and readers who all share a deep love for gripping stories about the world’s most infamous crimes.
The festival encompasses a broad range of crime literature, including Crime Fiction, True Crime, Crime and Technology, Crime in Film/OTT, Crime in Pop Culture, and Investigative Journalism, providing a rich tapestry of captivating narratives that will captivate, educate, and amuse.
There is a diverse assembly of voices that will bring its perspective, angle and ways of dealing with crimes in Crime Literature.
Authors from varied backgrounds and specialisation in Crime literature are invited to deliver, share and learn from each other.

In the session titled ‘The Craft of Visual Narrative – Movies as Living Literature,’ Imtiaz Ali and Sobhita Dhulipala provided insights into the captivating world of cinematic storytelling.
They discussed the process of character development, cinematic craftsmanship, and the intricate threads that weave stories together. This session offered an engaging exploration of the profound relationship between literature and film, showcasing how literary characters come to life on the silver screen, how narratives are brought to fruition, and how these two artistic mediums complement and elevate each other.
Mythical Tales of India
Embarking on a profound exploration, we venture into the mythical tales of India, embarking on a grand voyage through legendary Indian stories. This involved a meeting, ‘The Mythical Fabric of Indian Epics,’ which brought together the renowned Bibek Debroy, the visionary Akshat Gupta, and the presenter Prashant Kochhar.
It was an in-depth exploration of our culture’s abundant legacy, celebrating the enchantment, brave acts, and enduring knowledge within these epic tales.
Transcending Cancer
In the event ‘Transcending Cancer – A Beacon of Victory,’ Lisa Ray, Sreemoyee Piu Kundu, and Sandeep Bedi were the focal points of an uplifting discussion. Using personal stories and experiences, they illustrated the remarkable strength of resilience.
Dehradun Literature Festival
Looking back to April 2, 2023, the eagerly awaited fourth edition of the Dehradun Literature Festival (DLF) began and concluded on April 3. The festival was inaugurated in Dehradun by Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi.
The DLF of that year showcased more than 100 authors and distinguished figures, including Ruskin Bond, Imtiaz Ali, Prahlad Kakkar, Piyush Pandey, Saeed Naqvi, Preeti Shenoy, Kiran Manral, Tahira Kashyap, and many others.
Dehradun, celebrating its magnificent beauty, is also endowed with rich cultural and literary engagements.
Varta: A Cultural Festival
In August, Varta, a new cultural and literary festival, debuted in Uttarakhand, celebrating the Himalayan region’s rich heritage, especially in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh. It was held from August 18 to 20, 2023, at Doon University in Dehradun.
